Having made bold commitments to combat the threat posed by climate change at the COP 21 conference, it is now incumbent on policymakers and other public bodies to create the framework required for private money to finance the vast expenditure that will be needed to deliver the solutions. This SCI research report examines the nascent green ABS programmes launched in the US to date and assesses the prospects for them to expand beyond a niche asset class. It then looks at the initiatives that are underway in Europe and elsewhere in the world to encourage the development of green securitisation.
