A one-day workshop designed to examine all the major non-life insurance-linked securities (ILS) products and markets: catastrophe bonds and swaps; industry loss warranties; and sidecars.
This course aims to promote understanding and to develop knowledge of a sector that has experienced sustained growth and increased attention amongst the investment community in recent years. Equipping new and existing market participants with more comprehensive market knowledge ensures that that the market as a whole develops a better appreciation for these non-correlated products for alternative risk transfer.
The workshop will be led by two experienced market practitioners with deep understanding of the sector: Angus Duncan, Partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in London, and Michael Stahel, head of the insurance-linked investments unit at Clariden Leu Alternative Investments in Zurich.
Programme Sessions are designed specifically to encourage as much participation and interaction with delegates as possible. You will learn about the following topics:
- Brief introduction to the reinsurance industry - Overview of ILS instruments - The ILS market - Modelling and pricing ILS - The investors view of ILS - Next generation ILS instruments
Learning outcomes At the end of the programme, delegates should be able to:
- Describe the features of ILS products in terms of both their structure and markets - Understand (non-mathematical) pricing concepts for ILS - Apply these products in practical situations - Recognise the risks in the products and in their applications
