About John W. Uhlein: Mr. Uhlein is the Managing Principal of Grenadier Capital LLC, a boutique merchant banking firm focused on the specialty finance, distressed and structured finance areas. Grenadier Capital’s Managing Principal, has over 25 years’ experience and relationships in these sectors, as a lawyer, banker, and risk underwriter/lender. Grenadier Capital has recently been active with clients and products relating to: a REO acquisition and finance company, a CDS/CLN trading platform, a leasing company and a new credit intermediation model, among others. In the past year, Grenadier Capital made an investment in a REO acquisition company. In addition, Mr Uhlein serves as Chairman of StoneHouse Search Partners, an executive search firm focusing on placements within the financial services industry. Mr. Uhlein is also a Partner at RoundTable Financial Group, which raises money for hedge funds and as well as private equity investments Previously, Mr. Uhlein worked at Ambac Financial Group for over 15 years, as Executive Vice President and was Founder and Chairman of Ambac UK Ltd. In his last position, he ran the US Structured Finance and Emerging Markets business(excluding CDOs), which included Student Loans, Mortgage related product, Credit Cards, Utilities, Insurance, Conduits, Project Finance, and Commercial Loans (including small and big ticket leasing). Mr Uhlein is credited with started many businesses, as well as developing and growing many others. Mr. Uhlein was a member of the Senior Management and Senior Credit Committees. Mr. Uhlein was also an investment banker at Kidder, Peabody and started his career as a lawyer at Skadden, Arps. Mr Uhlein served on the board at Hartwick College and on the Advisory Board of Syracuse University College of Law. He also served on the boards of the American Securitization Forum (ASF) and Prep for Prep, which helps NY inner-City children academically. Mr. Uhlein received his BA from Hamilton College and JD/MBA from Syracuse University. He is a member of the New York State Bar. Mr Uhlein holds his Series 7 and 63 licenses, and is a registered representative of Alternative Asset Investment Management Securities, LLC. Mr Uhlein is a frequent speaker and author on matters of risk.
