A genuine distressed ABS market is taking shape amid continuing downgrades in the sector. Pricing anomalies that had so far hindered growth are disappearing, attracting a swathe of new buyers and sellers.
Hedge funds have been investing into distressed ABS for a while, but now real money investors may get involved in the sector, according to Tony Venutolo, global head of synthetic credit structuring at SG CIB.
